A heritage or preserved railway (tourist railroad in the USA), is a term used for a railway which is run as a tourist attraction. They are usually run by volunteers, seeking to re-create railway scenes of the past.
Photographs here are of the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway, the Caledonian Railway, the Strathspey Railway and the Tanfield Railway.
Photographs of steam traction on the UK main line. Steam locomotives are used on the rail network to haul excursions and day trips, usually to scenic or historic destinations.
